Questions Before You Book
Clear answers for your next step.
Open a question below for a concise answer, or speak with a Dragonfly specialist about your situation.
Understanding the scan
What is an MRI and how does it work?
MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of organs, blood vessels, soft tissue, the spine, and brain structures. Those images are then reviewed by a radiologist.
Does Dragonfly use radiation or contrast dyes?
Dragonfly scans do not use ionizing radiation or intravascular contrast dyes. Because MRI uses a powerful magnetic field, jewelry and metallic accessories must be removed, and certain implants or devices need to be reviewed before booking.
What does a whole-body MRI screening check?
A whole-body MRI provides a broad look across major organs and systems in one visit. It can help identify findings that may deserve further attention and creates information you can discuss with your healthcare team.
Preparing for your visit
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. Dragonfly scans are elective preventive screenings, and you can schedule directly without waiting for a doctor to order the scan.
Do I need to fast? What can I drink that day?
Dragonfly asks patients to fast for four hours before the scan. On scan day, please limit beverages to water, tea, or black coffee.
Is the scan process comfortable?
The experience is designed with comfort in mind. You can listen to music or watch a movie, and Dragonfly provides a blanket and an aromatherapy patch to help you relax.
Results and payment
How long does it take to get my results?
You will receive your report within seven business days. Dragonfly does its best to release results earlier, although rare cases may take slightly longer.
Can I use FSA, HSA, or CareCredit?
Dragonfly accepts FSA, HSA, and CareCredit payments. Some plans may require reimbursement through your specific carrier, so it is best to check with your plan.
What does a scan cost?
Dragonfly currently offers Torso, Head and Torso, and Comprehensive Whole Body scan types. Pricing begins at $999, and a specialist can help you compare the coverage and current programs.
